Local inland flooding impacts are possible but not expected in parts of England on Thursday, continuing into Friday due to rain falling on already wet ground. Local flooding from groundwater is possible but not expected across parts of the South of England for the next five days. Lands, roads and some properties may flood and there may be travel disruption.

River

The river flood risk is VERY LOW for the next five days.

Minor river flooding impacts are possible but not expected in parts of England and Wales today (Thursday) and could continue tomorrow in England as rivers respond to rain on Thursday.

Coastal

The coastal/tidal flood risk is VERY LOW for the next five days.

Minor coastal flooding impacts are possible along parts of the Dorset coast today (Thursday) in southerly gales. See Specific Areas of Concern Map.

Minimal coastal impacts are also expected along some English and Welsh coasts today due to high tides and large waves. Impacts may include isolated spray on low-lying roads and coastal promenades.

Surface

The surface water flood risk is VERY LOW for the next five days.

Minor surface water flooding impacts are possible but not expected in parts of England and Wales today (Thursday) due to rain falling on already wet ground.

Impacts could include localised flooding from urban and fast responding smaller watercourses/catchments, drains, channels and flooding from overland flow.

Groundwater

The groundwater flood risk is VERY LOW for the next five days.

Minor groundwater flooding impacts are possible but not expected in parts of Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire for the next five days.

The level of the ongoing disruption caused by groundwater flooding in Hampshire is being managed and awareness is high. Consequently the groundwater flood risk is being assessed as VERY LOW in Hampshire for the next five days.
