River levels are rising on the Bristol Avon and Semington Brook due to steady rainfall throughout today. Further rainfall, sometimes heavy, is forecast overnight which will cause river levels to continue to rise, peaking in the late hours of the 28th March into the early hours of Friday 29th March. Areas most at risk include low lying land and roads between Melksham and Bathford. The flood gates at Holt Road may be closed. We are monitoring rainfall and river levels and are checking rivers for blockages in the area. Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses and do not attempt to walk or drive through flood water. Consider putting your flood plan into action. This message will be updated by 12:00 noon on 28/03/2024, or as the situation changes.
