The North Sea coast from Whitby to Filey, including Scarborough
A flood alert has been issued for the North Sea Coast from Whitby to Filey. Wave overtopping and windblown spray is expected for the high tide on Wednesday 26th April between 15:15 and 18:45. The area of concern is Marine Royal Albert Drive. These particularly high tides are because of the naturally occurring astronomical tide cycle. Conditions may apply two to four hours either side of high tide. It’s possible we could see some large waves and spray and urge people to take care near coastal paths and promenades and not to drive through flood water. If you are camping in the area, consider if your chosen site could be at risk of flooding during the night. Do you know which way to move towards safer high ground? Don’t take risks to cross floods. Carry a map, and if your route is flooded find a safe alternative. This message will be updated as the situation changes.
