South Somerset Rivers, Upper Reaches

Flood Alert

The rain falling over the South Somerset area today, Tuesday 18/12/2018, is causing rivers to respond and rise. The rain is forecast to continue until about 18:00 this evening. The levels on the River Isle at Donyatt and Ashford Mill and the River Parrett at Chiselborough are rising. The forecast shows that these sites are likely to reach alert level this evening. Significant impacts are not expected. Catchments are wet, and localised surface flooding of low lying land and roads is possible this afternoon and evening. We have teams checking the rivers and structures in the area, such as any blockage at debris screens, culverts, bridges and sluices. Occasional heavy showers are forecast through tonight and tomorrow, Wednesday 19/12/2018. We will continue to monitor the situation and update this message tomorrow.

This information last updated 4:18pm, Tuesday 18th December.
