Groundwater flooding in the Candovers and Old Alresford

At Preston Candover, the groundwater level has fallen by 22cm in the last week. At Old Alresford, the level has fallen by 20cm during the same time. During the next 5 days, the weather in Hampshire is expected to be mostly dry. Groundwater levels will continue to fall, and the situation will slowly improve. In Preston Candover, water may remain in sumps and cellars over the next few weeks. We continue to monitor the levels and forecast. We will only re-issue this message at a time when groundwater levels are expected to rise significantly.
