Lower River Soar in Leicestershire

River levels are high but falling at the Pillings Lock river gauge. Consequently, the risk of flooding of low-lying roads and farmland remains. Areas most at risk are low-lying agricultural land and roads including Slash Lane at Sileby, the Mountsorrel to Sileby Road, the B5328 Cossington Road and the access road to Sileby Mill, and farmlands at Cossington, Sileby, Barrow, Quorndon and Cotes. Farmland in the Cotes, Loughborough, Zouch, Kegworth and Ratcliffe on Soar areas, Meadow Lane at Loughborough and the access road from Ratcliffe on Soar to Redhill Marina - Dependant upon levels in the Trent.
Further light showers are forecast over the next 24 hours.
We are closely monitoring the situation.
Please avoid using low-lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low-lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded.
