River levels remain high but are continuing to fall at the Great Chesterford river gauge following recent rainfall. Consequently, flooding of property, roads and farmland is still possible. We expect flooding to affect River Cam from Newport to Whittlesford including the Slades. Heavy rainfall is forecast on Wednesday 20th January. We expect river levels to rise again in response to this rainfall. We are closely monitoring the situation. Please plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded and avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses. This message will be updated this afternoon, Tuesday 19 January, or as the situation changes.
