Groundwater flooding in Bishops Sutton

Flood alert

Groundwater levels in Bishops Sutton are high, and they are rising and falling with each rainfall event. In the last week, a month’s rain (59mm) has been recorded in Bishops Sutton. We expect properties in Bishops Sutton will be experiencing cellar flooding. Isolated properties may still have residual flood water affecting the ground floor of their properties. Roads (such as the B3047) will be flooded, particularly after heavy rainfall. Impacts to septic tanks are ongoing. From today (02/05/2024) to Monday (06/05/2024), further spells of rain, some of which may be heavy, are forecast in Hampshire with between 10 and 50mm possible during this time. Groundwater levels will rise and fall in response to any heavy rainfall recorded, but levels are expected to continue falling within the next week. We continue to monitor the levels and forecast. If you have pumps to help reduce water levels, please ensure that they are operating. This Flood Alert will be updated by 18:00 on Thursday (09/05/2024).
