Groundwater flooding in the Alton area

Flooding possible. Be prepared.

Flood alert

Rising groundwater levels may lead to flooding.
Flooding is possible from 10th February 2026.
Groundwater levels are currently rising at our Farringdon borehole near Alton. Groundwater levels are above normal for this time of year. We expect levels to rise over the next few weeks due to sustained rainfall across the area. Due to the nature of groundwater flooding, this situation could continue for several weeks or longer.
We are closely monitoring the situation .
Residents are advised to prepare property resilience measures and ensure that pumps are working where they have been installed .
This message will be updated by 8:00PM on 17 February 2026 or as the situation changes.
