High tides, strong winds and large waves tomorrow morning may lead to flooding.

Flooding is possible from 03:30 to 07:00 on Monday 28/09/2026.

Locations most affected will be coastal roads and footpaths along the North Sea coast from Staithes to Whitby, including Sandsend and the tidal River Esk.

We are closely monitoring the situation and closing locks and flood gates.

Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water .
