Widespread heavy rain associated with Storm Bert, and snow over higher ground, is expected across the Upper Aire catchment for much of today (Saturday 23 November 2024). River levels are expected to rise as a result and flooding is possible.
River levels will potentially peak in Kildwick late on Saturday. There may also be surface water flooding affecting low spots on local roads in areas affected by the heaviest rain. Levels may fall somewhat going into Sunday morning, however further rainfall is expected on Sunday 24 November 2024 with additional impacts possible.
Flooding is possible near the River Aire, Eller Beck, and Waller Hill Beck, with low lying land and roads expected to be most affected. We are closely monitoring the situation and our Area Incident Room will be open through the weekend. Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water or walking near swollen rivers, particularly on Saturday 23 November 2024 when gale force winds are forecast.
This message will be updated by 19:30 on Saturday 23 November 2024, or as the situation changes.
