Flooding possible. Be prepared.
High river levels today may lead to flooding. Flooding is possible on Sunday 08 February 2026. River levels are high in places following the recent rainfall. Areas most at risk are low lying land and riverside areas around Great Yeldham, Castle Hedingham, Sible Hedingham, Halstead, White Colne, Chappel, Fordstreet, and the Toppesfield Brook, and in Colchester between the A12 and East Street. We are monitoring rainfall and river levels. Further light rainfall is forecast so river levels may remain high. Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water. This message will be updated by 10am on Monday 09 February or as the situation changes.
