Rivers Tillingham and Brede

Flood alert

River levels are high as a result of heavy rainfall on Sunday night and Monday morning. We expect flooding to affect low lying land and roads along the River Brede, particularly around Brede and Winchelsea and along the River Tillingham between Broad Oak and Rye. Flooding is expected to continue during Monday evening and into the early hours of Tuesday morning, 27 February.
The forecast is for mainly dry weather over the next few days. River levels are expected to gradually fall across the area into Tuesday morning. We continue to monitor the situation and our incident response staff are out on the ground checking and clearing blockages and debris from rivers. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses. River levels are likely to remain high until the early hours of Tuesday morning. This message will be updated by 2pm on Tuesday 27 February, or as the situation changes.
