Flood warning

River levels remain high and steady at the Bedford river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall on Wednesday 23rd December. Consequently, flooding (of property) is expected to continue. We expect flooding to affect Heron Quay, County Hall, Lindisfarne Priory and Castle Mill Cottage in Bedford. Further rainfall is forecast tonight, Sunday 27th and Monday 28th December 2020, so we expect river levels to remain high. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are liaising with emergency services. Call 999 if in immediate danger. Please move possessions and valuables off the ground or to safety and follow advice from emergency services. Find out if your community assistance centre is open at www.bedford.gov.uk. This message will be updated in 8 hours, or as the situation changes.
