Flooding expected. Take action now.
Heavy rain has fallen on the Barnwell Brook catchment over the past few days. The rising river levels have already caused flooding of low lying land and roads in Barnwell, and due to the continuing rising levels we now expect properties to be affected on Friday 25th, December onwards. Low lying properties near the river are most at risk. The river is forecast to continue to rise and the impacts are likely to last until tomorrow. Remain safe and be aware of your local surroundings, and avoid contact with flood water. Avoid riverside paths and please stay away from river embankments. Our staff are out in the area to check the flood defences, clear blockages, and assist the Emergency Services and Council. We will be closely monitoring the situation, and this message will be updated on Saturday 26th December, or as the situation changes.
