Flooding possible. Be prepared.

Flood alert

High tides, strong winds and large waves overnight may lead to flooding. The highest tide level at the Duddon estuary is expected at 2:15 AM on 23/08/2024. Flooding is possible 2 hours either side of this time. Areas most at risk include the Duddon estuary including Haverigg, Millom Marsh, Foxfield, Sandside and Dunnerholme. We do not expect to see similar impacts from the high tide tomorrow afternoon. We are closely monitoring the situation and checking flood defences. Be careful along beaches, promenades, coastal footpaths and roads as large waves and sea spray could be dangerous. This message will be updated by 9:00 AM on 23/08/2024, or as the situation changes.
