Flooding expected. Take action now.
Water levels remain high on Friday 23rd January following overnight rain. Flooding is expected to continue.
The River Tone level at Currymoor Pumping Station is 7.53m. Water will enter Currymoor via Hookbridge spillway if this level exceeds 7.45m. The Drain level at Currymoor Pumping Station is 6.59m and rising steadily. Cutts Road floods when this drain level is above 5.75m and New Road when the level is above 6.18m. There is a risk of water overtopping Haymoor flood storage area and affecting Curload and Stan Moor if this level reaches 8.30m. For the latest river and drain levels refer to https://check-for-flooding.service.gov.uk/river-and-sea-levels.
Unsettled conditions with spells of heavy rain are forecast for the coming days. We continue to monitor the situation closely and staff are checking the condition of flood banks, spillways and weed screens. Pumping will commence at Currymoor once the river level allows. Please avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water.
