Flood alert

River levels have risen slightly this week in the upper reaches of the Rivers Brue and Sheppey. Although levels have begun to fall, today’s rainfall - combined with the significant volume of water still present on the moors and in the rivers downstream of Glastonbury - means that this Flood Alert is likely to remain in place. Flooding may affect locations near the River Brue and River Sheppey, with low lying land and roads most affected, particularly around the B3151 Glastonbury to Meare Road. Overtopping is possible from the Glastonbury Millstream and the River Brue at North Drain and Westhay.

After overnight and morning rainfall Sunday (22/02/2026), the rain will ease in Somerset. Monday starts mostly dry, before a new weather system brings periods of rain, not forecast to bring high totals. Tuesday and Wednesday is expected to bring drier conditions.

We continue to closely monitor the rainfall and river levels. Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water. This message will be updated by 1PM on 23rd February 2026, or as the situation changes.
