WARNING. Flooding is expected in Eriskay Causeway. Act now.
The prevailing weather forecast, along with very high tides and wave action means that flooding from the sea is expected. Near gale to gale force winds from south and later in the afternoon from the west means that a combination of wave overtopping, spray and debris may result in the closure of the Eriskay Causeway. To find out if the road and causeway are closed, please follow the Western Isles Coastguard Facebook page www.facebook.com/hmcoastguardwesternislesskyeandlochaber/ Flooding is also possible north and west of the causeway to low-lying land, roads and properties including Polacher, West and East Kilbride. The highest risk is either side of the high tides, which is around 1815 GMT on Saturday.
