Flooding possible. Be prepared.
High groundwater levels may lead to flooding.
Flooding is possible from 07/02/2026 because of a very wet start to 2026.
Today (05/02/2026), it is possible that up to 30mm of rain could be recorded in Hampshire. If this affects the area, a small number of properties in Preston Candover and Old Alresford could experience cellar flooding from Saturday 07/02/2026. Flooding could affect the ability of septic tanks to operate effectively. Lighter rain is forecast from Friday 06/02/2026 to Monday 09/02/2026. Groundwater levels in the Candovers and Old Alresford will continue rising slowly into next week. Isolated properties in Old Alresford could possibly experience internal ground floor flooding in the next 2 weeks.
We are closely monitoring the situation .
Residents are advised to prepare property resilience measures and ensure that pumps are working where they have been installed .
