Flooding possible. Be prepared.
Groundwater levels remain high but are currently slowly falling at our Tile Barn Farm borehole near the Sherborne St John area following recent persistent rainfall. Groundwater levels are above normal for this time of year and remain at a level where communities may be affected by groundwater flooding. We expect levels to continue to slowly fall over the next few weeks. Levels remain sensitive to further sustained rainfall. Low-lying land, gardens, cellars and roads therefore continue to be at risk of flooding. Due to the nature of groundwater flooding, this situation could continue for several weeks or longer.
We are continuing to monitor groundwater levels and will update this message on 09/04/2024, or as the situation changes.
