Groundwater is high, within 70cm of the surface at the East Dean borehole, but slowly falling a few centimetres each day. Minor groundwater flood impacts are expected to continue, affecting the ability of the sewage network to operate in East Dean, Charlton, Singleton and West Dean. Water will affect some basements, and be underneath ground floors. Small amounts of water will affect roads, including possibly the B2141 to Chilgrove. Bands of intense rainfall are forecast Wednesday and early Thursday morning 02/05/2024. Flood water will affect roads Wednesday and Thursday. Groundwater in the villages could rise up to ten centimetres. Groundwater may slow in its fall at the Chilgrove borehole. Isolated showers are possible through to next week. Generally only minor flood impacts are expected. Minor flood impacts affecting the sewage network could continue through to mid May. If you have pumps to help reduce groundwater levels in your property, ensure they are operational. We continue to monitor the levels and forecast. We will update this message by 18:00 03/05/2024
