Flooding possible. Be prepared.
Groundwater is high and slowly rising. Isolated showers are forecast Tuesday, with the potential of another 10-20mm of rain Wednesday evening. Followed by showers through the second half of the week. Groundwater is expected to continue slowly rising. Springs will appear, water will be in fields, and water will flow down roads, including Stoughton main road, the road from East Marden, between Cooks Lane and Barley Mow in Walderton, and the B2146 near Woodlands Lane. Groundwater will also affect a small number of cellars in Stoughton and Walderton. Groundwater rise at Compton borehole could begin to pause, or maybe even fall very slightly around 15/02/2026. However, the weather outlook remains unsettled, and more rain is currently predicted on Sunday and Monday (16/02/2026), it is possible that groundwater will rise again from the start of next week, through to 22/02/2026. Take care on roads that flood (Stoughton, Walderton). Ensure pumps work. We will update this message by 18:00 14/02/2026.
