Flooding possible. Be prepared.
Monday's early morning tide at 03:30 on 06/01/2025 is higher than normal due to unsettled weather with strong Southerly Force 7 winds and large waves. The weather increases tide table values by 0.68 m. The total forecast tide is 5.25 metres Chart Datum (2.52 mAOD) at Portsmouth. For 30 minutes either side of high water, spray overtopping of sea defence walls into low lying coastal roads between Hillhead and Gosport, namely Cliff Road and Stokes Bay Road is expected. At Hillhead, low lying Sea front car parks may flood for a very short period of time. Property flooding is not expected. Monday afternoon's tide at 15:45 06/01/2025 is forecast to be 62 cm lower (1.9 mAOD). No further flood impacts are expected. We continue to monitor the forecast. Be careful if driving, parking or walking at Gosport sea front at high tide. Large waves can carry and throw shingle and debris, which will affect the main road at Stokes Bay. We will remove this message by 12:00 on Monday 06/01/2025.
