Flooding expected. Take action now.
Storm Ashley bringing strong winds, large waves and spray overtopping on the coast is expected to cause flooding overnight.
Highest tide level is expected at 2:15 AM on 21/10/2024. Flooding is possible several hours either side of this time.
Areas most at risk include Marine Road West, Sandylands Promenade and the coastal path at Lower Heysham, including the Midland Hotel and the car park on the sea front at the north end of Sandylands Promenade.
After the high tide overnight‚ the weather is more settled and no flooding is expected.
We are closely monitoring the situation and checking flood defences.
Start acting on your flood plan if you have one.
Stay away from beaches, promenades, coastal footpaths and roads in as large waves and sea spray could be dangerous.
