Flooding expected. Take action now.
Higher than normal tides are expected to cause flooding overnight.
Highest tide level is expected to be at 11:59 PM on Thursday 17/10/2024. Flooding is possible 2 hours either side of this time.
Areas most at risk include Lancaster Road from Oxcliffe Hill Farm to Heaton Bottom Road, Heaton and Bazil Point. Sunderland Brows Farm, Sunderland Point, First and Second Terrace, Alderley Bank, Potts Corner and Shorefields House and Caravan Park.
The lunchtime tide on 18/10/2024 is not expected to reach flood warning level, however the tide at 12:42 AM on Saturday 19/10/2024 is also expected to reach flood warning level.
We are closely monitoring the situation and checking flood defences.
Stay away from beaches, promenades, coastal footpaths and roads as large waves and sea spray could be dangerous.
