Flood warning

River levels have risen at the Flint Mill Cheddleton river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall. Consequently, flooding of property is expected later this morning and into the afternoon. Flooding is affecting roads and properties on parts of the Cheadle Road to the north of the River Churnet, parts of Station Road and Churnetside Business Park areas.
Further rainfall is forecast over the next 12 hours and we expect river levels to continue to rise until later this afternoon.
We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are checking defences, clearing weed screens and actively checking river levels and the weather forecast..
Please avoid using low lying footpaths and bridges near local watercourses and avoid contact with flood water. If in immediate danger, call 999.
This message will be updated this afternoon, 14/01/21, or as the situation changes.
