Flooding expected. Take action now.

Flood warning

Heavy rain has been falling overnight in the Ingrebourne catchment and will continue throughout Thursday (14th January). This is causing the river to rise and is forecast to continue to rise through the day.
Property flooding is possible. If the river continues to rise, properties and low lying areas around Hornchurch will start to flood this morning (Thursday14th January). River levels will remain high throughout the day and any flooding could continue for a number of hours.
Flood waters may be deep and fast flowing in all these areas. Residents are strongly urged to take action now and monitor local water levels. Remain safe and be aware of your local surroundings.
We will be closely monitoring the situation throughout the day and we have staff available to clear any blockages in the river. This message will be updated this afternoon or as the situation changes.
