Flooding possible. Be prepared.
We have seen heavy rain across the area throughout today, Sunday 22nd September. This has caused the River Lee and other streams and brooks in the area to rise. Rain is forecast to continue overnight and into Monday morning.
Flooding is forecast to affect locations near the Lee, with low lying land and roads expected to be most affected, particularly around New Bedford Road; Mill Street; King Edward Place; Kingfisher Close.
We expect the river to remain high with further rainfall forecast on Monday. No flooding to properties is currently expected.
Avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water.
We are monitoring river levels and have staff on standby to attend to any blockages in the river.
This message will be updated by 8am tomorrow, Monday 23rd September or as the situation changes.
