Flooding possible. Be prepared.
River levels are high but steady at the Selly Park River gauge. Consequently, flooding is still possible on 27 January 2026. We expect river levels to remain high tonight and a start declining over the next few days. Flooding may affect low-lying land and roads adjacent to the River Rea between Longbridge and Nechells including Northfield, Kings Norton, Lifford, Stirchley, Selly Park and Digbeth. We are monitoring rainfall and river levels and clearing weed screens. Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses. Avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded This message will be updated by 11:00AM on 28 January 2026 or as the situation changes.
