River Severn at the Showground and The Quarry, Shrewsbury

Flood Warning

River levels remain high but are beginning to fall at the Welshbridge river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall. Consequently, the risk of flooding is reducing. Flooding is affecting offices at the showground and Gravel Hill Lane. Welshbridge peaked at 3.66 metres overnight last night. We do not forecast the situation to deteriorate any further. Further light rainfall is forecast over the next 24 hours. River levels are falling, but still pose a flood risk. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are checking defences. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded. This message will be updated tomorrow morning, 16/06/19, or as the situation changes.

This information last updated 6:22pm, Saturday 15th June.
