Flooding possible. Be prepared.

Flood alert

River levels are forecast to rise overnight, 19/09/2025 due to heavy and prolonged rainfall and are forecast to peak early in the morning, 20/09/2025.

Flooding is possible from early hours on 20/09/2025 throughout the morning at locations near the River South Tyne, with low lying land expected to be most affected, particularly around Riverside footpaths and low lying land and roads.

The heaviest of rain is expected to clear the area by 08:00AM, 20/09/2025. We are not expecting to issue any flood warnings.

We are closely monitoring the situation. Avoid low lying footpaths and bridges near local watercourses and do not attempt to walk or drive through flood water.
