This Flood Alert has been removed. River levels have now peaked and are starting to fall on the River Wansbeck as a result of heavy rainfall overnight. Further light rainfall is forecast later today, which may cause river levels to rise slightly again, however no flood impacts are currently expected. Morpeth flood gates remain closed but will be reopened later this afternoon, 20/01/2021. We are continuing to monitor the situation. Please continue to avoid low lying roads and footpaths near watercourses which may still be flooded.
