Flood alert

High river levels this evening may lead to flooding.

Flooding is possible from the evening of 16 February 2026. River levels remain high following the recent rainfall.

Areas most at risk are low lying roads and riverside areas, including Lordship Lane and Cow Watering Lane around Writtle College. The weather forecast is improving, and we expect levels to start returning to normal soon.

We are monitoring rainfall and river levels.

Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water.
