Flooding possible. Be prepared.

Flood alert

River and lake levels are currently falling. However, further rainfall today, Wednesday (17/12/2025), and overnight, on already wet ground conditions, will see levels rise again this afternoon and overnight.

Locations most affected will be low lying land and roads near the lower Derwent from Bassenthwaite Lake to the coast at Workington. The Cocker from Crummock Water to Cockermouth. River Marron from Ullock to its confluence with the Derwent near Bridgefoot.

We are closely monitoring the situation. Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses. T

his message will be updated by 10:00 on 18 December 2025 or as the situation changes.
