Flood alert

Rising river levels today may lead to flooding. 
Flooding is possible on 12 March 2026 . 
The current band of rain will clear to the south by this evening. Tonight will then have variable cloud with patchy rain in the early hours, which will fall wintry on higher ground. Staying windy.

Locations most affected will be low lying land and roads on the rivers Esk and Irthing and other watercourses, including low lying areas around Longtown and Brampton. 
We are closely monitoring the situation . 
Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water . 
This message will be updated by 8:00AM on 13 March 2026 or as the situation changes.
