Warning no longer in force

Wednesday's early morning tide at 01:00 on 10/04/2024 is higher than normal due to unsettled weather with strong Westerly Force 5 winds. The weather increases tide table values by 0.18 m. The total forecast tide is 6.81 metres Chart Datum (3.54 mAOD) at Shoreham. While the tide remains higher than normal, it is forecast to be approximately 40cm lower than Monday evening. Only minor flood impacts are expected to affect areas near Sussex Yacht Club and Surry Hard and could affect the houseboats in the Harbour. Tide levels will continue to fall for the week ahead. We continue to monitor the forecasts. As a precaution, to help to protect property, we are closing our tidal defence gates at Oyster Quay. Please take care if near the sea front, or tidal banks at high tide. A Flood Alert remains in force, to describe minor flood impacts Wednesday. We will re issue this Flood Warning if property flooding is expected.
