Flooding possible. Be prepared.
High tides this evening may lead to flooding. No property flooding is expected. The detailed tidal forecast for those who use it is for a peak level at Hinkley Point of 6.91 mAODN at 8:15 PM on 18/10/2024, with south-easterly force 3 winds. (mAODN is height above average sea level.)
Areas most at risk include coastal and tidal areas at Minehead, Combwich, Bridgwater, Burnham-on-Sea, Uphill, Weston-super-Mare, Kewstoke, Sand Bay and Kingston Seymour.
Tidal conditions are expected to improve over the weekend.
We are closely monitoring the situation and checking flood defences. Stay away from beaches, promenades, coastal footpaths and roads as large waves and sea spray could be dangerous. Don't put yourself or others at risk.
This message will be updated by 2:00 PM on 19/10/2024, or as the situation changes.
