River levels are rising at the Liverpool Road river gauge as a result of heavy rain associated with Storm Christoph. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is possible this morning and during Tuesday. Flooding is affecting low-lying land and roads adjacent to the River Trent between Norton Green and Darlaston including Stoke on Trent, Lyme Brook between Newcastle under Lyme and Hanford, Fowlea Brook at Stoke on Trent and Ford Green Brook. Further heavy rainfall is forecast over the next 48 hours. We expect river levels to continue to rise during Tuesday. We are closely monitoring the situation and our incident response staff are clearing weed screens and actively checking river levels and the weather forecast. Please avoid using low lying footpaths and bridges near local watercourses and avoid contact with flood water and stay aware for flood warnings which may be issued. This message will be updated this afternoon, 19/01/21, or as the situation changes.
