Flood warning

This message has been issued because flooding of homes and businesses is likely between 9:00pm and 11:00pm, Friday 24th November. Strong winds and spring tides may cause large waves, and spray overtopping on the coast. Areas most at risk are Coalhouse Fort and car park, and the low lying land between the Fort and Coalhouse Point. The detailed forecast for those that use it is for a peak level at Southend of 3.89 mAODN at 10:00pm, Friday 24th November, which is 1.17m above tide tables, wind Force 5, north westerly. (mAODN is height above average sea level, for more info refer to local tide table). The current series of high spring tides will remain for the next few days. Be ready to take action to protect your property if flooding is expected. We are monitoring the situation and further alerts or warnings may be issued. We will update this message by 9am tomorrow, Saturday 25th November.
