Flooding expected. Take action now.

Flood warning

Following heavy overnight rainfall on wet catchments, river levels have risen sharply in the Westbrook. The rain will continue till 06:30 this morning, after which showers are forecast.

It is possible that there may be property flooding in the area around Bentley Avenue. This may occur as soon as 06:30 soon after. There may be flooding of low lying land and roads.

At this stage more extensive flooding is not expected. However, we will continue to monitor rainfall and river levels and will update this message by 14:00 today, 28 January 2021, or sooner if required.

We are monitoring the situation and have teams patrolling the catchment and debris clearing screens to ensure the free flow of water.

Members of the public should avoid flood water and stay aware for more information. Should your property be in the named area, you should consider putting into action any flood plan. Avoid driving in flooded roads where ever possible, as bow waves may cause property flooding.
