Flooding expected. Take action now.
River levels have risen at the Station Road Innovia, Wigton river gauge and Wiza storage basin as a result of heavy rainfall and are forecast to rise further. Consequently, flooding of property, roads and farmland is possible after 05:30 this morning Tuesday 1st October. Properties in the Western Bank, Cuddy Lonning, The Brook, Innovia Factory, The Medical Centre, Beech Croft, Birdcage Walk, Tenters, The Stampery and Spittal Farm areas are likely to be affected.
We expect river levels to remain high during the early hours of Tuesday morning.
We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are checking defences.
Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and avoid contact with flood water. Rain is forecast to continue during Tuesday morning but should move away during the afternoon.
This message will be updated by Tuesday afternoon, or as the situation changes.
