Flooding expected. Take action now.
The water level in the River Lymington at Brockenhurst is high and rising. In the last 6 hours, heavy and intense rain has fallen on already saturated ground, with 35 mm recorded at Brockenhurst. Surface water will be flooding roads and watersplash areas (Brookley Road). At Butts Lawn, Meerut Road and Fathersfield flooding will occur imminently. Over the next 4 to 5 hours, the river will rise, becoming out of bank as it flows through Martin's Road and Balmer Lawn Road. Properties nearest the river in this location may experience flooding. Surface water may impact central Burley. Land flooding will also occur at Boldre and Pilley Hill. Further rain is forecast over the next 8 hours with up to 10mm expected. The river will rise until 14:00 Friday 05/01/24. Our staff are ensuring the river is kept free of blockages. We continue to monitor the forecast. Flood water in roads will be deep and flowing rapidly through watersplashes. Do not drive through floodwater. Please take action to protect your property. This Flood Warning will be updated by 15:00 Friday 05/01/24.
