Flood alert

This afternoon’s heavy rainfall is causing watercourses in the Carr Brook catchment to respond.

Areas most at risk are low-lying land, roads and footpaths close to small rivers and streams. Water levels could rise rapidly and potentially generate deep, fast flows. We could also see some surface water impacts, particularly in urban areas that experience the most intense bursts of rain.

Thunderstorms and further unsettled weather are also forecast on Sunday and Monday, with low confidence over exact timing and locations. We are closely monitoring the situation.

Please avoid using low-lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid roads near rivers, which may be flooded.
