Flood warning

River levels have risen on the Ching Brook in the London Borough of Waltham Forest as a result of persistent heavy rainfall caused by thunderstorms. Flooding of property and roads is possible from 6pm today for the rest of the evening. Flood water could be deep and fast flowing so remain vigilant and avoid these areas.
We expect river levels to begin falling from later this evening, Wednesday 17th August.
We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are liaising with emergency services and local councils.
Please monitor local water levels and weather conditions. Consider putting your flood plan into action. You should avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water. There is further heavy rainfall expected this evening but drier conditions will resume from tomorrow morning, Thursday 18th August.
This message will be updated by 9am tomorrow morning, Thursday 18th August, or as the situation changes.
