Flooding expected. Take action now.
Tuesday's early morning tide at 00:30 on 09/04/2024 is higher than normal due to unsettled weather with Gale Force 8 South Westerly winds and large waves. The weather increases tide table values by 0.7 m. The total forecast tide is 6.75 metres Chart Datum (3.70 mAOD) at Littlehampton. For 2 hours either side of high tide, waves will overtop the sea front. Water will flow westwards along Mill Lane and Climping Street (from the right of the East car park) ponding in Climping Street Car Park, near to properties, and in nearby land and fields. Large waves and flood impacts will still be possible Tuesday afternoon. However, Tuesday's tide at 12:30 on 09/04/2024 is forecast to be 50cm lower (3.17 mAOD). We continue to monitor the forecast and routinely check the condition of the beach at Climping. Please take action to protect property on Climping Street at least 2 hours before high tide. Avoid visiting the sea front. Shingle and debris can be thrown by large waves. Access could be restricted during and after high tide. We will update this message by 18:00 on 09/04/2024.
