Coast from Fairlight to Dungeness including the Tidal Rother

Flooding possible. Be prepared.

Flood alert

High spring tides are expected to affect the foreshore between Fairlight and Dungeness. Tides will be at their highest between 11:15am and 1:15pm tomorrow, Friday 18/10/2024, however conditions may apply two to four hours either side of the high tide. We expect flooding to affect coastal areas, particularly low lying land around, Winchelsea Beach, Rye Harbour and Camber.

We are closely monitoring the situation. The peak tide level is currently forecast to be 4.58 metres Ordnance Datum at Rye Harbour at 12:15 BST on Friday.

Please be careful along beaches, promenades, coastal footpaths and roads particularly around Rye harbour and Camber.
This Alert will remain in force until Saturday afternoon as similar high tides are forecast around Saturday lunchtime, 19/10/2024. This message will be updated on Friday evening, 18/10/2024, or as the situation changes.
