Flooding possible. Be prepared.
Monday evening's tide at 23:45 on 08/04/2024 is higher than normal due to unsettled weather with strong South Westerly Force 7 winds and large waves. The weather increases tide table values by 0.65 m. The total forecast tide is 8.23 metres Chart Datum (4.58 mAOD) at Eastbourne. For 2 hours either side of high water, beach top properties at Pevensey Bay will be affected by flood water and spray, strong winds and large waves. The road at Herbrand Walk may flood. Water might also flow down beach access paths and affect the Coast Road in places. Large waves and minor flood impacts will still be possible Tuesday afternoon. However, Tuesday's tide at 12:30 on 09/04/2024 is forecast to be 50cm lower (3.69 mAOD), so flood risk could only affect beach top properties. We continue to monitor the forecast. Pevensey Coastal Defence Ltd will maintain the condition of the shingle beach. Spray and waves will contain and scatter shingle which is dangerous. As a precaution, plan driving routes to avoid Herbrand Walk. We will update this message by 18:00 on 09/04/2024.
