Flooding possible. Be prepared.
Strong winds and large waves on Friday has led to minor flooding. Minor flooding is possible for 2 hours either side of Friday afternoon's tide at 15:15 on 09/01/2026. The shingle beach has been impacted by high energy waves from Storm Goretti. The weather increases tide table values by 0.1 m. The total forecast tide is 6.48 metres Chart Datum (2.83 mAOD) at Eastbourne. Strong North Westerly Force 7 wind. Beach top properties along Pevensey Bay are likely to be affected by spray generated by the strong winds and large waves. Saturday's tide at 03:30 10/01/2026 is forecast to be 9 cm lower (2.74 mAOD). Tides will continue to fall and flood risk should reduce. We are closely monitoring the situation at low tide we will check and maintain the condition of Pevensey beach. Don't put yourself or others at risk. Danger - stormy seas. Avoid Pevensey beach and Herbrand Walk at high tide. This message will be updated by 06:00 PM on 10/01/2026.
