The Western Rother is high and rising. 35mm of rain has been recorded at Liss, in only a few hours on Thursday. Which is a lot in a short period of time. From 01:00 05/01/2024 flooding will be extensive through fields and affect rural roads and isolated properties and communities including Durford Mill. Flooding will also affect properties in Iping, near Iping Bridge, Iping Mill and Iping Lane. As well as at Stedham Bridge, Stedham Lane, Stedham Mill. In Midhurst, water could approach North Mill and properties near Cowdray ruins. A further 5mm of rain is possible through the early hours of Friday. Very little rainfall is forecast from Friday daytime through to next week. The river should begin to fall by 12:00 05/01/2024, but will be higher than normal until Saturday. Vehicles are advised to be moved to higher ground. Some roads may become impassable, please plan to avoid driving through routes vulnerable to flooding. Our gates in Midhurst and Stedham are operating to help reduce the risk of flooding. We will update this message by 16:00 05/01/2024
